Gamedev - popular and promising technologies?

Hello. Now I am a web programmer, a front-end developer with a lot of experience (I know: javascript, typescript, html, css, react, nodejs, php, mysql). Something began to bother me, I thought about changing direction. The backend is not so interesting, fiddling with the database and messing around with algorithms is not my thing) I am a visual person, that is, I like to see the result of the work so that there is a beautiful picture on the screen that is convenient to work with) Nothing but gamedev comes to mind. The question is which direction to choose so that it is still in demand for 5 years and, of course, that the salary is good). In the frontend now in Moscow time the fork is june 100 - senior 300 per hand per month. And probably in gamedev there are no problems with remote work at all, there is no longer any desire to sit in the office. Having briefly looked at the area, I concluded that we should go to unity. But is it so from the side of those who are in the subject?
Thanks in advance for your replies. And if you advise courses, then in general there will be a bomb!

Most are in the office. Especially programmers. Remotely it can be localization, artists, marketing.
With your background, Unity would be a perfectly acceptable option. But it's still a pretty broad topic. If you like visualization, then either program graphics, or the interface and auxiliary utilities. Grafonium requires a separate competence (algorithms are the same), so the GUI with utilities remains. And this is sadness, in fact. Nothing from the front-end on the web will not differ much in terms of sensations. And they won't pay much.
In addition, most of the unity market is occupied by simple mobile phones, so you are unlikely to do something complicated within the interface.
Try digging into the How Games Are Made podcast. There should be episodes to help you get your bearings.

Unity is the theme. No options.
But with salaries you were mistaken. People go to gamedev not for the sake of money, but for the sake of happiness and pleasure from work. Even if you are a founder, the chances of earning something tangible are very small.
No one can tell you 5 years ahead. Things are changing fast in this area. Perhaps, Unity strengthened for a long time and took the pinnacle of glory. Well, the trend in mobile phones. Otherwise, it is difficult to say what will be fashionable and in demand. Who would have thought that a buggy PUBG with a bunch of negative reviews makes a billion dollars a year? However, people are buying.
