Full stack Backend, what to choose?

Hello.
I have 1 year full stack developer experience.
I want to start a personal development project which is a web application.
With the frontend, everything is more or less clear to me.
But choosing a technology for the backend is a false task for me. I need the full stack: the server itself (presumably NGINX), the database, the programming language, and the framework. Basically, all my previous projects were written in PHP, and I would like to move away from it. I planned to buy a VPS on Centos for this event.
I read that it is possible to set up an environment for an asp.net application on Linux. How working is this?
