FTP server. Which OS is better?
Hello! I would like to ask a question to experienced people who understand the server side. I have an old PC (2009) I will soon take a new laptop, I think to connect a monitor and keyboard to the laptop, and I think to make an FTP server from the PC. I don’t know what OS to put on a PC compatible with Windows 10 (maybe I didn’t formulate it correctly, well, something like downloading there were no problems with Windows). I think I won’t have problems with the installation since I worked on ubuntu for a long time.
OS requirement:
1. Compatible with Windows (There were no errors about interaction)
2. Authentication was present (For security)
3. I would like the download and upload to the server to happen like this:
|---> 1. open cmd
|-- -> 2. I write a magic command for authentication
|---> 3. if authenticated, then continue
|---> 4. write a magic command to download a certain directory (catalog)
|---> 5. write a magic command to upload a certain directory to the server on a laptop or phone
| ---> (Phone is optional but write if possible).
If you have an idea or a solution, please write.
Thank you in advance!!
PS
Criticism is welcome.

So on ubuntu and do it ...
Or directly built-in sftp or for example vftpd
If the server is on Windows - fileszilla
Commands google, these are standard copying options. But I would use a better ftp client.
And even better, purely for local use, not ftp, but smb ... mount it as a network folder and use it as you like
