Frontend(React) + Backend?

I want to learn React, but I still don't understand how it will work with Backend when I only do Forntend.
That is, a programmer will be able to work if he does not know React?
I don't know React yet, so I want to understand how it works!

Backend -
REST API, he doesn't care what the client has - react / angular / native mobile application or another server, his business is to process and give data.

Take some simple framework for backing, where there is less fuss. For example, loopback and experiment.
