Free DNS manager?

I am migrating from one DNS manager to another, when I suddenly discovered that almost everyone has been struggling with DDoS in one way or another for the last month. Namely, ypdns promoted on habré, then entrydns, more cloudns and further on the list of google-a results for the request “free dns manager”.

Actually, out of curiosity , who is doing this and why ?

I also ask for a recommendation of a free DNS manager.

Thank you.

www.rackspace.com/cloud/dns/
Anycast addresses and other goodies. Didn't notice any falls.
Previously, registration required a credit card, although DNS is free.
