Forms of registration: large VS medium VS minimum

Good day,

I want to ask the professionals about the registration forms. What registration method would you recommend for a Live Chat Software business service:
1. Large registration form consisting of 10-12 fields to find out maximum about the client
2. Medium registration form of 5-7 fields, where some basic is asked information
3. The minimum form of 2-3 fields.

Which of these is more suitable for business decisions?

And an indirect question: what is better - to immediately ask for all the information during registration or to ask the necessary minimum and then give the opportunity to fill in the missing information?

Thanks for all the replies.

When registering, 2-3 fields are enough (e-mail, password or e-mail, login, password). And only then filling in other fields at the first entrance.
When developing a service, when registering in which a fairly large amount of information was also required, I encountered the following: people, seeing a large form, put it off for later and naturally forget later, and eventually become clients of another similar service. But when we switched to the minimum registration (in our case: e-mail and password), we eventually got more customers, because. firstly, after registration, a letter with a registration notification is sent to the mail (already a person who has postponed filling out a large form for later will not forget our address, etc.), secondly, after registration, we remind the client (who did not fill out detailed information) about yourself by sending 2 info-letters every 2 weeks. Result: 60% increase.

If the business allows it, it is better to fill it in stages… with the gradual disclosure of functionality as the profile is filled in (this will need to be repeated on 'every corner' of the interface).
The full functionality will almost certainly be used by a minimum number of users, but because of this, requiring ALL users to fill in the 'extra' fields is at least ugly.

The minimum option with the ability to choose your password, and not just generated by you.
