Is it possible to somehow smooth fonts on the site using css, for example? Or something else?

WebKit (Safari, Chrome) and Firefox support the text-rendering property .

in 99% of cases, fonts are displayed by OC either “through” the OS, it’s hard to argue with it, and with the user’s “preferred”

You can make the border between text and background less sharp by giving the text a shadow with text-shadow .

You can adjust anti-aliasing in the properties of your operating system as you wish. And your user can. Everyone chooses what is more convenient for him and there is no need to forcefully try to do well.

It does not seem to me a good idea to impose on the user your dislike for a particular type of anti-aliasing. If it's not photoshop or some other editor where it's critical, the anti-aliasing method should be pulled from the OS.

you can use Cufon, it turns out with anti-aliasing, only here is any hemorrhoids with :hover and so on, by the
way, a very painful question :) designers like to draw everything beautifully and get mad when it looks wrong in layout :)
