File server?
Hello everybody!
Tell us who dealt with it, and if there are any alternative ways to organize a file server, except for the “samba” / file cleaning on Win2k * Serv that has set the teeth on edge?
Maybe there is something more interesting than a banal network drive, etc.?

And why work via the Web, if SMB is cross-platform, although a crutch inside, it allows you to do much more things (for example, read a file from the middle), and does not slow down?
There was such a question. Came, in my opinion, a sensible idea: to add a search engine to the file storage. “Shared” the Google-Desktop interface and go… Anyone accessing the network share can launch a search form, type in the text and get a link to the file, taking into account the shares.
