File management system in a design organization?
There are detail drawing files.
Assemblies are made from parts.
Parts are sometimes refined and used in new builds.
Tell us in which file control system it is most convenient to do the following:
- when viewing the properties of a part file, to see in which assemblies it was used,
- when viewing the properties of an assembly file, to see all used parts and their quantity,
- to see the author of the drawing,
- to be able to download the latest version of the assembly , work in it and save the changes.
It is desirable that it be an open source solution.
I'm looking towards SVN, GIT, Mercurial, but it's not clear how they will work with drawing binary files.

For binary files, svn is better. Unfortunately, it will not give you exactly the functionality you want. Version control systems allow you to keep a history of changes to files, but not dependencies between them. For example:
view the current state of a part or drawing;
see who, when and why made changes to the file;
roll back to any point in history.
On the other hand, the rest of the requirements are implemented using any database. For example SQLite, Postgress, Mysql... All you need is a user-friendly interface in the form of a website or a separate program for convenient work.
On Habré , the problems of the drawing management system were raised, at the level as it happens in life.
There is a commercial product TDMS that covers the entire range of tasks. You can build on it in terms of functionality and analogues.
If you do not have "deep" IT support with a focus on development, then focusing on open source is practically very difficult, and this can be easily argued.
