Failure to execute any network requests after numerous nodejs requests?

Ubuntu 14.04 on vmware virtual machine. Which runs a telegram bot running on nodeJS. The bot makes requests to api.telegram.org at 50 microsecond intervals. All of a sudden, all network connections stop working. ping any domain is unknown. Googling, a possible reason is nodejs request errors that are not processed and the limit on the maximum number of open files or sockets is exceeded, did not find the exact reason. The question is, what can be done here? If you restart the OS, everything will be ok, but this is not an option.
