It is necessary to organize such a system using a neural network, in particular a convolutional one, or at least explain the principle of operation. I don’t understand much about this, I need understandable material.

For starters, I would look at OpenCV . This is a very effective framework for different operating systems, which is used for image recognition.
Personally, I used it for face recognition and, with a short training, coped well with this task.
