Excel files are being deleted, what can be?

There is a file with a bunch of formulas and filters, sometimes strange things happen to it - old data is somehow selectively deleted.
Where should you dig? I can't trace it because it happens every 1-2 weeks.

Look for the one who deletes the data. Most likely it is someone's handiwork.
It is unlikely that Excel itself will think of deleting something.
Excel has, of course, its cockroaches, but your case is definitely not one of them.
PS: you can protect the sheet and set the prohibition of deleting rows and columns, but this will not save you from deleting data in the cells.
