There is a licensed MS Office 2003 with the latest updates.

when working in excel, terrible brakes occur: even the simplest operations such as adding a cell, inserting an additional column or table, etc. occur with a pause of 10...30 seconds.
Excel files are small (hundreds of kilobytes), there are no complex formulas that use data from other files.

what I did:
1. deleted installed local and network printers (there was a suspicion that the brakes were caused by the HP2050 printer driver)
2. cleared the temporary folder
3. did disk defragmentation
4. disabled the antivirus ...
5. reinstalled MS Office
all these operations did not give any result

advise What else can you try...

If everything else works fine, then you need to look at what add-ons and macros are installed on excel. See macros and add-ins in the Visual Basic editor (Alt+F11). Ideally, there should not be a single line of code (if you yourself did nothing). Reinstalling the office might not have affected this.

Most likely the hard drive dies, bad blocks associated with this timeouts. Why does it affect?
Because there is not enough RAM and there is a swap on the screw. How much RAM and what does SMART say?

check the defragmentation of the swap file. should be one piece.

Hardware and operating system are normal? Are any other programs slowing down? Performance tests can drive, suddenly show a weak spot?

There was something similar. It was allowed by reconnecting printers, all HP network printers were. They deleted the printer, removed the mention of it and the drivers for it in the registry, and reconnected it. You can also clean the folder with the drivers.
