Error installing wordpress missing MySql extension?

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.
This is the error that pops up when I go to the site. I was looking for a solution to the problem, but everywhere it requires connecting via ssh and manually updating php. I rent a shared hosting and I can't connect via ssh, what can I do?
