Engine PMSM calculation. What software is available?

You need to learn how to calculate engines. Specifically interested in synchronous permanent magnets. I want to make an engine for a machine. Now this machine works from a conventional asynchronous with chastotnik.
In fact, there is a task on this very machine to learn how to make permanent magnet linear motors to drive the CNC milling machine. There is developed electronics for such a drive, it is necessary to produce kits for different machines. Imported engines cost just space money. I want to master the software or the methodology for calculating such engines from and to. Those. starting from iron, windings, to motor voltage, removed torque and holding force. There is no engine specialist in the team, someone will have to master it.

Why did you decide to use linear motors? After all, the main advantage over the same ball screw is high speed. It seems to me that this makes sense in very industrial installations, where reducing the processing time of one part will give a benefit greater than overpaying for a linear motor. And home-made, it seems to me, will eat up a lot of time for maintenance, adjustment, refinement. . I myself would really like to assemble a linear motor, but I can’t even imagine how to approach it. If you still decide to do it - let me know, your experience is interesting.

Conversely, a linear motor is simpler. We immediately get rid of backlash. Making is easier. Fewer mechanical parts. They take up less space. The inertia is greatly reduced throughout the system. You have to count correctly. Management is like a regular DC (of course, you need to generate 3 sines), all the magic is in braking and accelerating.
