emacs. How to remap cmd to Ctrl on Mac?

And in which file to reassign? I have created an .emacs RET file in my home directory. And I have it written there:
(setq mac-option-modifier 'meta)
In theory, cmd should now be equal to Alt. But I don't. Either the file is not the right one, or it's for the console emacs, but I'm using the application.
Thanks everyone for the replies.

On a Mac, you can remap modifiers system-wide, which can be a lot more convenient. Well, the correct place for Ctrl is Caps Lock.
