Dropbox and torrents "hang" Windows XP SP3
Internet on the desktop via wi-fi (router on the windowsill). Symptoms: we turn on the download of the file in utorrent and after a minute (sometimes more sometimes less) the computer freezes tightly. We turn on dropbox - the system immediately hangs.
At random, I realized that it was all about wi-fi, since I stuck an iota jingle directly into the computer and everything worked without problems.
VIA networking technologies usb wireless lan adapter, latest drivers (1.70). I tried to disable encryption on the router (Zyxel KEENETIC 4G) - it did not help.
Maybe it's worth tweaking the adapter settings? But what?

Check how many half-open tcp connections are allowed ("half-open limit fix" in Google)
Try limiting the upload/download speed and find out when it hangs.
What is the nature of the freeze: do not even the indicators on the keyboard switch or is it less severe?
There are just two options: overheating of some element, or a purely software freeze.
temperature of bridges, components, latest bios versions?
