Dovecot mail client not receiving messages

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm just studying mailers on linux, so the simplest postfix + dovecot + mysql bundle has been raised so far, a web interface is attached to this case and everything works fine, mail goes, everything is fine. BUT. configured the mail client, everything is fine, there are no errors, but the client does not receive mail from the server, neither by pop nor by imap. The protocols in the dovecot config are uncommented, I’m working, the firewall is configured (I can telnet from this machine without problems), everything is fine in the server logs as far as I understand:

но при этом сообщения в клиент не загружаются, ошибок никаких клиент не выдаёт - всё так же хорошо

куда копать?

increase the detail of the logs, this time. look at /var/log/maillog - maybe you can see something there
method=PLAIN - use only with encryption, otherwise method=CRAM-MD5, otherwise not secure, these are two.
postfix + dovecot + mysql - maybe the simplest, but very smart and functional bundle, incl. choice is good.
ps
I advise you to use dovecot as the smtp-sasl-backend in postfix (look at postconf -a). you will not need to install cyrus-sasl-sql, which you probably installed (I could be wrong - God forgive me).
