Domain - surname?
I want to register a domain with my last name like ivanov.net for a portfolio, blog, personal mail, etc.
However, in the .com zone there already exists such a domain (ivanov.com), which belongs to my namesake. It is used, the owner has a legal entity whose name includes the last name. The company, apparently, works not only in Russia. The field of activity is completely different, not IT, and does not intersect with mine.
How safe is it to register ivanov.net in such a situation? If suddenly the owner of the .com domain does not like the fact that I have the same domain, but in a different zone, will they have any legal grounds to claim my domain?
It is clear that, most likely, he will not care. But nevertheless, I want to know in advance all the possible options.

About the fact that you can safely take a domain in another zone - have already been answered. I will add - by and large, you can at least even do the same as they do. First of all, this is not your headache, but the one who did not take care of buying domain names with his brand in other domain zones. If I'm not mistaken, here on Habré somewhere they already talked about such a case, and there was only one conclusion - you can’t do shit even through the courts (of course, I don’t take the giants google, yandex, etc. for consideration). The maximum that they can do is call and ask to transfer the domain, and on your part you will have to choose from 2 options - sell or donate to them. There is a third option - but here mats are prohibited.
Theoretically, there should be no problems, but in some areas, using local legislation and lawlessness, they can squeeze out.
If you're not doing exactly the same thing, then you don't care. The vlad domain is registered in each zone and everyone has their own business there.
