Does the mail server support a message delivery report?
The ESMTP protocol specification declares an addition to the RCPT command - the NOTIFY parameter, with which you can ask the server to tell us whether the letter was delivered or not (not to be confused with "read").
So, I'm wondering if there are still popular mail servers on the Internet that support this function? And how can you beautifully and unambiguously check (telnet?) whether this or that server supports this feature? (It is clear that you can send a letter through a client that supports a delivery report request - Microsoft Outlook, The Bat!, Mozilla Trunderbird). Maybe somewhere there is official mention of support / its absence / alternative technologies ...
I repeat that it is the delivery report (at the protocol level) that is interesting, and not the read report (usually at the level of message headers).
