Does the job of a tester require the same creativity as the job of a developer?
Good afternoon. My question is to people who have experience in both testing and development. A few years ago I tried to learn JavaScript (Frontend) and I did not like it at all, I gave up after some time of torment and forgot about IT since then. Most of all, I did not like exactly what you need to invent how and what, to create code. At the same time, at school and at the university (specially not related to IT), I was friends with numbers, I liked to calculate all sorts of economic indicators, to structure information. It has often been said that logical thinking is well developed. But I’m not a creative person at all, I don’t like to invent something new, it’s more comfortable for me to solve problems following the rules.
And now I came across an advertisement for tester courses and again I thought that testing might be suitable for me. I only have an idea about manual testing and do not know what is there at the next levels of testing. Maybe there, like a developer, you will need to write code and creativity will be needed.
Tell me, is the work of these specialists very similar in this regard? Or should the tester do everything according to the rules and not be too creative?
