Does the 2560x1440 HDMI version make a difference?

Hi all. When buying a monitor with a maximum resolution of 2560x1440, I did not pay attention to the fact that my motherboard does not have a DisplayPort interface and you can only connect via HDMI. Of course, the video card will have a port for DP, but at the moment and for the next two or three months, a video card is not expected. I read that it is not possible to achieve a resolution of 2560x1440 via HDMI, except perhaps by lowering the monitor frequency. But there is also infa that the bandwidth has been increased in the 1.4 specification and the resolution of my monitor should go with a bang. Is it true? I'm not sure you can trust Wikipedia 100%.
Thanks

I had a self-made adapter, from DVI to HDMI, but 4K 60GHz was transmitted without problems and artifacts! Vidyaha was GTX 650 2GB + monitor Samsung lu28e590ds. Now switched to DisplayPorn + GTX 960 4GB. So you can make such an adapter yourself, you don’t need to solder anything there, just connect the wires according to the colors and that’s it.
And so my laptop on hdmi gives out 2560x1440 60GHz without problems
