Does tar ACL preserve rights?

Hello. If I use the tar utility to tar a folder that has extended ACL permissions applied, will they be preserved when the archive is unpacked?
It's just that for ACL rights, it is advised to use the star archiver. Is the archive created by the star archiver decompressed in the same way as a regular tar archive?
