There is no "helps or doesn't help". This is a set of dozens of different filters, each of which tries to somehow optimize some of the site's "speed" parameters. It is more correct to simply follow all the PageSpeed ​​recommendations for optimizing the site manually, rather than trusting this to a crooked machine.
The only thing worth using this module for is compressing images to WebP with backwards compatibility for non-understanding browsers. Really reduces the size of the page at times, if it has a lot of raster graphics.
