Does MongoDB use a composite index in part?

Good day. Tell me if mongodb is using a composite index in part. For example, there is an index on 3 fields: sender, recipient, action And there is a request, under the conditions of which there is a selection by sender and recipient. Will an index on 3 fields be used for this query? Or for it it is necessary to create a separate index on 2 fields? Thanks in advance for your reply.
