Does it make sense to buy a 2k monitor for remote connection to a PC with full hd resolution?

I want to buy a monitor with 2k resolution for home, for work. Full HD monitors at work. The full hd resolution is a little lacking, as I work with tables. Can you please tell me if I can connect to a working PC using "remote desktop connection" and work in 2k resolution?
