Does anyone use 3D glasses, how and which ones. Will they be able to program?

The question is motivated by the following: I bought a Google Cardboard pattern and tried to screw my Huawei Honor 4X to it. The result is curious, but rather discouraging.
It turned out that the magnetometer and accelerometer in my phone are poorly made and make too much noise for it to work as a display for video glasses. However, I found a person who has a Samsung Gear VR, which is the same Google Cardboard, only in profile, and asked me to drive. In particular, I looked at the toy:

and the result was absolutely amazing.
From which I became interested in the community's experience in using video glasses, and in general, the opinion is curious.
At the moment, I see three branches of HMD development:
1) Glasses as a display. Examples: Oculus Rift, MyVu Crystal (defunct). They connect to hospitals, eat a lot of energy, work like a screen.
2) Glasses into which the smartphone is inserted.
Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR
3) Augmented reality glasses. Google Glass, Epson BT-200 The
latter seem to be the most promising direction, but I would be interested to hear community feedback.
I'm especially curious if anyone has tried to do anything in them that requires a huge display size.
Program (having several manuals next to the editor open), draw, or model.

I have a 120hz monitor and nvidia 3d vision glasses at home, and have also played Oculus Rift DK2. For proper operation (for the picture to converge), the eyes must have focus on infinity. If there is text on the screen, then when you try to focus your eyes on it, the picture will begin to double. And reading looking "through" the text is not very convenient.
