Does anyone remember the web application game about IP packets on the network?
Once upon a time, I came across news, it seems, on Habré (habrahabr even then, it seems), about the fact that one teacher or professor developed a web application for his students, where networks on the Internet were modeled, based on them, it was told how hackers hack computers. It's probably something to do with package spoofing.
Previously, somehow I did not even go through this game to the end, it was not much difficult. Yes, and I knew almost nothing about networks, but now when I study networks, I somehow wanted to look at this game. But I can’t find it anyway, what doesn’t remind me a lot is the cisco network assistant.
The game consisted of lessons divided into topics. First an introduction and then more details. At the same time, the network itself could not be edited. You can monitor how IP packets are going on the network and send them. It was definitely possible to send a ping there, and the server answered you with a packet. The passage of packages could be paused in order to study each package in detail by clicking on it. I agree the explanation is not very muddy, but if you have ideas for a name, then write, I will try to answer quickly.
UPD: The site was found: https://netsim.erinn.io/
And yet, to be honest, I didn’t really like it) Just as you study the networks, you notice that the site is not perfect. For example, Google responds to the packet, even if it is not specified in the destination address, that is, it seems to be ignoring this packet. Then there is also a switch, and if I understand correctly, it talks about the routing table. But after all, the switch works at level 2, and it doesn’t need to know IP addresses at all, in general, I don’t know yet, maybe I’m not very good at networking, or this is some difference in the names that are used here and abroad.

CS4G Netsim by Erinn Atwater and Cecylia Bocovich
Netsim is a simulator game intended to teach you the basics of how computer networks function, with an emphasis on security. You will learn how to perform attacks that real hackers use, and see how they work in our simulator!
It? And then I hear about such a thing for the first time from your description.
> But after all the switch works at the 2nd level
Switches of the 2nd level - on the 2nd, switches of the 3rd level - on the 3rd.
