Document filename.pdf cannot be opened, what is the error?
When I try to open .PDF files on my mac I get an error, document filename.pdf cannot be opened. Acrobat cannot open Adobe PDF document files. But I can open a document if I open Acrobat and then open the file through Acrobat. I use Snow Leopard and Acrobat Pro 9.
I would appreciate any information on this and your opinion. Thanks in advance!

Dealing with specific Troubleshooting
Decipher the exact cause of the PDF not working. It's not as difficult as it seems. Simply open the PDF file and note the specific reason why the PDF is not working, as shown in the window that appears (for example, "Can't find or create a font..."). If you can, click and drag on the reasons why the PDF is not working, right click and copy the exact phrase.
Go to adobe.com, select the "Support" tab at the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader" and then select "I can't open the PDF document" and under them "Troubleshooting". Paste the exact phrase you copied earlier in the search box on the right side of the Adobe support screen Press "Enter".
Click on the "Troubleshooting" Adobe title that most closely matches the phrase you inserted in the search field. For example, if you paste "Can't find or create a font..." then in the Adobe search box, select one of the available options, you'll get specific directions detailing how to fix this problem. Follow the instructions you will receive.
If you want to skip the whole process of manually recovering a bad PDF, then consider downloading a program that recovers PDF files such as PDF Recovery Advanced PDF or Repair; www.oemailrecovery.com/en/pdf_recovery.html
However, keep in mind that programs are often not as effective as the manual PDF recovery method described above.
