Docker vs Homestead?

Mmmm, in essence, the goals of Homestead / Docker are the same, and on the surface, they are almost the same.
However, I would like to know what and when it is preferable to use? Why?

Nothing like this. Just the essence of them is completely different, but at a superficial glance it is really easy to think that they are the same. Homestead are virtual machines and Docker are containers. Read about it on the Docker site .

If you understand Docker, it is preferable to use it, because it consumes less resources*.
* depends on the situation, of course, and requirements; consult a specialist before use. But for development on a development machine, this statement is quite valid.
