Do you work with kickbacks?
From time to time I come across a situation where the manager asks for a rollback. He recommends me to the customer - I receive the amount directly from the customer - upon completion of the work I transfer a certain percentage to the manager. Feelings are twofold. On the one hand, you can contact the customer directly and talk about this scheme, on the other hand, this is not fair to that smart-ass. Is this normal freelancing practice in general?

What kind of kickback is this. The manager in this case acts as a job search agent for you, you pay him a percentage as an agent. You may not pay, but then when this customer falls off the next one can not be seen from him.
You can search on your own without a manager.
Regarding the manager-customer relationship, I usually say this to customers: I have proven people in this and this area. I can recommend them to you. If you like all of them, you can cooperate, but I immediately say that I have my own old business with these people, one of them can thank me for the order. In 99.9% of cases, the freelancer thanks me for the profit or not.

What's the problem if it suits you?
Another thing is if there is a guarantee. You cannot guarantee the amount of a rollback if it has already been made.
Never encountered this.
If the customer needs a worker, then he can pay for the service of selecting an employee. But the other way around is weird.
It's another matter if this left-handed person will do something himself: break the TK into tasks, organize the process, engage in knocking money out of the customer, then he has something to pay for.
This is rare in freelancing.
This is a lot of luck for that matter - after all , for a small amount of money, you are guaranteed to get a client. The amount, of course, must be added to the cost of the work . That is, the entire holiday is at the expense of the end customer.
Faced.
My cases were not liked by the fact that the intermediary wanted 50%, but did nothing to bring the contract to real payment, it was on me. That is, in fact, I wanted 1/2 purely for the coordinates of the customer.
If it is inexpensive for you and with a guarantee to get a contract, consider yourself lucky. Highly.
