Do you think a 64gb SSD will be enough as a drive for the OS?
Good afternoon, do you think a 64gb SSD drive is enough as a system drive, i.e. only under Win10 OS, browser, office and a few small programs?
there are no pitfalls in general in the essence of the operation of an SSD, what if it needs as much free space as possible for its work, etc.?

Will not be enough.
The system, programs, user profile and swap file will take up 50-80GB.
And you can’t score an SSD to the eyeballs, there must be free space, preferably at least 30%
Will not be enough.
Under the SSD, you still need to have all the software from autorun, all the main software for work, and the documents you work with.
Therefore, approximately 200+ are needed.
120 GB. at the moment, for Win on a home PC, the most optimal option, as DevMan wrote above, saving between 60 and 120 does not justify itself.
Four years sitting on Win7 and 60GB SSD. It seemed to be enough. If, in principle, you do not install anything other than the office and a few programs, everything will be fine.
In my case, even despite the fact that I installed heavy software and games on another disk, it doesn’t matter if something settles on the system one, and in general, application software “gets fat” over time. Gradually, the free space turned out to be 20-24GB, and this is with the paging file disabled and sleep mode. Many manufacturers sin with a speed boost due to free space (Not all, but OCZ for sure). The speed periodically degrades and is restored again. As soon as my disk became two-thirds or more full, I no longer saw normal speed. I had to change the SDD to 120. 60 also did not remain idle - for the eyes and ears for Linux.
Personally, my opinion is ssd 120gb is the new minimum. You do not have to deal with tricks, symlinks to service directories and other things. Also, a larger SSD will allow it to last longer.
Quite enough for the described needs. Just remember that you do not have it rubber, put only what is necessary. There are always pitfalls. Do not disable the swap file. But remove the hibernation, sleep is enough. About 10-30% free is not so. To maintain a good access speed, drives perform self-cleaning - Garbage Collection. So it is for her that it is useful to have unallocated and not free space on the drive. When installing the OS, select manual partitioning. Create a partition 5-10% smaller than the storage capacity. Specify it to install the OS. The installer will create another service partition, but it is not large at all. This free space will not be available to the OS, but the drive firmware will know that it is not used by the OS and can be used. Good luck.
