Do you need Thawte ssl123 for the domain or does the registrar just want money?
Question from the lamer - there is a domain name. There is mail on this domain with 1 address. There is no site.
Reg.ru sends a message Validity period of the service "Renewal of the Thawte SSL123 certificate(s) for the domain ... expires.
AND The validity period of the 'Encryption Everywhere 6 Months' certificate for the server name ... expires.
Do I need them or is this another attempt to enable services I don't need?
Thanks in advance!

If there is no site and mail (mx-server) is on someone else's resource, then a certificate is not needed.
Buying Thawte SSL123 is done more often due to the lack of choice offered by the host. This is a certificate with a simple domain verification, which in essence is not much different from "classmates" except for a much higher price.
If the server is under your control, you can use the free letsencrypt, for example. Well, if not under yours, then eat what they give, or look, there may still be an opportunity to use letsencrypt there (not always obvious and not always convenient way).
as an option = reg.ru domain and connected Yandex/Google mail to this domain
