Do you need a unique description of films on the site?

I googled, poyandexil, in the end, understand the hell, everyone in the search results is the "father" of seo, and everyone writes their own recommendations that carry zero meaning of the information load.
There is a site with films (if anything, I am aware that this is a rotten thing, there are 1000000000 of them, etc.) There are questions of the following plan:
1. The uniqueness of the descriptions. Is it worth bothering with the uniqueness of texts if the main traffic goes through VK, OK, Twitter? I understand that unique text affects search results, but in my opinion even with unique ones. at 100% and a good occurrence of tags, the maximum that you will achieve is the issuance somewhere in 100-200 positions. Is there a sense of uniqueness?
2. Movie covers. Upload to your host and set the Alt attribute? Or is it a waste of time and you can parse it to yourself with a direct link (for example, from a movie search)?
3. What do you think is better - a site with a unique 100% description and access to it from the search results, or a transition to a site from groups of social networks where the target live audience of 10 thousand people is already full, but not unique content? I just want to understand where to put more emphasis, the development of groups or search engine optimization. Today, in my opinion, the same VK brings traffic to the site more efficiently than search.
4. If there are already 1000 films with NOT unique descriptions on the site, does it make sense to remake the descriptions into unique ones if the pages are already in the search results?
Thanks to all.

You asked a lot of questions, but didn't specify your goal. "Is it necessary?", "Does it make sense?" - it all depends on your intentions.
To increase traffic from the search, it makes sense to create unique descriptions, upload pictures, prescribe alts and engage in other optimization activities. If you are driving traffic from social networks, then I tend to go for the "bad luck" option.
3. Look at the envelope if you are monetizing the site. Both from search and from social networks, traffic may not be so hot, so focus on the direction from which there is more exhaust at an equal cost of resources.
