Do you need a topic about universities from graduates for applicants?
College admissions will start soon.
When I entered, I was generally poorly oriented in universities, all the more I had no idea about the state of affairs at the faculties inside.
There is a proposal to create a topic-discussion of universities, faculties and departments.
I will write about my alma mater, and in the comments, everyone will tell about their institute.
We will try to keep the same format.
Concisely, as objectively as possible, strengths and weaknesses, pitfalls.
First of all, the opinion of undergraduate students and recent graduates is of interest.
Good idea or nonsense?

Maybe it would be better to unite several authors and write a topic about several universities at once? It seems to me that it will be more informative than the data scattered over the comments.
I think it is necessary not from graduates, but from current students.
In the 5th year I switched to the correspondence department, in the same year the dean was replaced, and with him a lot of things at the department. There were also global changes affecting the entire university. I graduated 2 years ago, and no matter what I say about it now, it will have nothing to do with what is happening at the university, and, in particular, in my department, now.
To be honest, admission is very different (I entered in 2005, there was no USE yet), the situation at the department is also changing in principle, but the approach to learning, such a learning atmosphere, remains. It is instilled not only by entrance examinations and the reputation of the university, but also by the teaching staff, curricula, library textbooks, even the walls themselves (classrooms, desks and benches). I think about the atmosphere and about who you can become after receiving such an education. Information does not become outdated for at least another 5 years (of course, for universities with dozens of years of history of development and formation).
PS I can tell you about Bauman Moscow State Technical University, department SM-1 "Spacecraft and launch vehicles", or about the second higher education at the department IU-6 "Computers, complexes and networks". I want to warn you that the second higher education is quite different from the main one, so if you plan to enter the first higher education at the PS, then my experience will certainly help you evaluate, but only approximately.
I here thought that all the same if to do a topic that there will be a confusion. A lot of information, a lot of emotions and everything will mix into a mess.
Indeed, how many people - so many opinions. And yes, the situation in different departments and faculties is different.
But, firstly, any opinion will be useful to the applicant as an addition to any ratings of the Ministry of Education, etc. And the situation is not so different that absurdity and corruption flourished in one department, and Nobel discoveries were made in the next department.
I think it's worth making a topic with a link to a separate survey form and viewing opinions on the university on a separate page. The question is how the administration of Habr will react to this.
The questionnaire looks something like this:
University
Faculty
Specialty (department)
Course / year of graduation
Advantages of the university as a whole (briefly list, for example: there is a hostel, next to the metro)
Cons of the university as a whole (briefly list, for example: outdated computer classes, bribery
) specialties (a couple of sentences)
What can you say about the practice / internship (one sentence)
Does the university contribute to employment
Was the acquired knowledge useful in work
What have you heard about neighboring departments / faculties
Didn't find what you were looking for?
