Somehow I saw Lebedev's keyboard, I wanted one, but it's a bit expensive ...
I made a program for myself (PC + android):
In the program on the PC, we create the necessary buttons with custom icons, combining all this into virtual layouts. It looks like this:

We run the program on an android smartphone or tablet, it connects via wifi to the program on the PC. When you switch to a specific application, the corresponding layout appears on the smartphone screen and when you press the button, a predefined action occurs. Either launching a program or pressing a specific key. In addition to pressing a key, you can program a macro. For example, when you click on the “panic” button (the name “hide porno” is more relevant for it :) ), the sound will be turned off and all windows will be minimized:

I did all this half a year ago, but I was too lazy to finish the job. It was a pain to write a manual and translate it (and the site) into English. If someone undertakes to help with this, the project will be brought to an end. Naturally, it will be free and open source (everything is written in python, besides, the application also works on linux)

Done right, this program can change the world! A bunch of "tablet-PC", in this implementation, is my old dream). Many at work or at home have a tablet / phone just like that, without work. But it can be fully utilized. Unfortunately, my English is not very good, so I can hardly help. But in any case, I wish you good luck! it would be very cool! It's better not to bother with Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, but use a wire. All the same, without a wire, the phone will sit down in a few hours.

Here you write that the photographer. Probably processing photos in Photoshop. Will it really be more convenient for you to select a working tool on a tablet than on a keyboard?
Despite the great idea of the app, I can't figure out how to use it in real life other than to show my friends.
If the application is active and I'm working on it - I have my hands on the mouse / graph tablet and keyboard, it's faster for me to press a key than to reach for the android device.
Some mice have 5, 7 buttons, but I haven't seen people program them outside of games.
On the keyboard from multimedia I use only quieter / louder, forward / backward.
As for games, your application will most likely not work in online toys, their cheat protections do not allow pressing emulators to break through.
The only area is video players; as a remote control will be quite usable.
