Do the Internet settings crash when you reconnect the network cable from the router directly to the laptop?
Sometimes you need high speed. And I want to put the network cable from the router directly into the laptop, but I need to set new settings in the laptop.
Question. When I put the network cable back into the router, will I have to configure it again?
That is, can I safely reconnect the network cable between devices without permanent settings?

You will not have to configure the router with a probability of 95%. I leave 5% for the fact that the provider, seeing an unfamiliar MAC, will cut off the port - but such paranoia is now rare.
Providers do not like troubles. Therefore, when you plug in a pacifier, you get a gateway and dns address via dhcp. Some have vpn. If you set all this up, then everything will work, set up in option 2
At least indicate what kind of router?
I almost never saw home routers lower the speed on WAN-LAN, if it's not a fierce Chinese tupolink. If the channel speed is <80 Mbps, if more - you need a gigabit router.
But on WI-FI, especially in high-rise buildings, especially at 2.4 GHz, due to collisions, it can easily drop to 20 Mbps - it is solved by switching to 5 GHz.
In general: it’s easier and better to deal with the router than to suffer from poking.
