Do I need to use Cloudflare proxy even if there is DDOS protection?

I suddenly have a question. Do I need to use Cloudflare proxy even if there is DDOS protection?
I recently bought a machine (server) with PRO protection against DDos. Before that, I had a regular hosting, but with proxy from Cloudflare. I just read on the Internet that in Cloudflare, in addition to the most protection against attacks, there are many different goodies.
What worries me most is that if I turn on proxying to the domain, then if there is an attack, will the Cloudflare server go down if I do not turn on attack protection.
Thanks in advance :))

The Cloudflare service will not fall on you from an attack, it will simply turn off proxying and the site will be unavailable, that's all.
Cloudflare on a free plan can only provide a CDN, free SSL, and hide the website's IP address.

Regarding your defense, if schoolchildren attack you, then you can do it without cloudflare. If a serious office is taken, then the site will fall.
