Do I need to rebuild the ltsp image after updating the lts.conf file?

There is an ltsp server and several images in thick client mode. If you change the lts.conf file in these images, the changes are not applied. Only running the ltsp-update-image command helps, after which the lts.conf file appears in the image and the changes are applied. Is this ltsp behavior correct or should changes be applied without updating ltsp images?

You seem to be editing the wrong lts.conf. Needed - which is located in the tftpboot folder.
In Edubuntu, it is located in /var/lib/tftpboot/lts.conf (depending on the version - maybe not immediately, but in some subdirectory).
