Do I need to create a new account or resource to connect Youtube to Google Analytics?

I want to connect my Youtube channel to Google Analytics. I already have an account that tracks statistics for my site. Do I need to create a new account for the channel, or is it enough to create a new resource in an existing one?
Or maybe you don’t need to create a new resource, but simply add the code of an existing one to the channel settings?
