Do I need to be afraid for the data on the PC when updating win xp sp2 to sp3?

You need to install an antivirus on a rather old computer, it costs win xp sp2, but the antivirus requires sp3. Actually, what is the best way to do it, download the sp3 installer and update it? Then the question is, is it worth worrying about the data on the PC? Is it possible to be sure that there will be no jambs? Or is it better to just change sp2 to sp3 via regedit?

Install SP3. It is very strange and wrong that you have not done this yet.

There will be no jambs with data loss (I have never had one), unless the disks die. From the fact that you cheat in the registry there, the necessary updates will not be added to the system.
