Good afternoon!
I'm thinking about setting regionality for the site. The site will be in Russian and later there will be an English version, and then the question arises ....
Prehistory: the site of a photographer in a foreign country for everyone. Basically now Russian clients, BUT there are the same Russians but from the CIS countries or from abroad.
Question: how to be? set the region of Russia for the site in Russian and create a subdomain with en.site.ru and not set the regionality
Or do not expose anything to anyone at all and make the English version of the site at the site.ru/en category level or through the subdomain
What do you advise?

In the Google Search Console, the region can be linked, incl. for a specific category like /en - do as you like, both options will work. I advise you to read this Google help page - there are also the main pros / cons of different options for specifying the region.
