Do I need a portfolio to freelance?

Hello, at the moment I am a junior front-end deleloper and decided to try my hand at freelancing, namely upwork and freelacer. The problem is that the account is clean, just created and there is no portfolio at all, and accordingly I’ve been sitting for almost a week and it’s empty, they unsubscribed but asked for the entire portfolio. So I would like to ask experienced freelancers and gurus in their field what to do? make up 3-4 psd layouts and put them on hosting? Or try to continue looking for an order and, accordingly, my portfolio will be formed from the work performed.
At the moment I know: HTML5, CSS3, JS, jQuery, sass, flex, grid, bootstrap, gulp, webpack and I am taking React courses in my city.
I will be very grateful for your help.

And how did you understand that you are a junior front-end deleloper if you haven't done any layout?
Make up a portfolio website and a few supporters of layouts for it (you will discover a lot of new things for yourself) and your level will be visible to the customer.
Plus, as a customer, your phrase I KNOW and a long list of technologies would scare me away. For a novice coder without completed work, a long list, besides, to know !== to use in practice.
Maybe it's better to delve into the basic technologies, and not spray on everything at once? In the future, you will come to the things you need. In any case, good luck in your endeavors)
