Do I need a course in Architecture and Software Engineering?

I would like to ask the experts. Here at my university, until the end of this course, the subject of architecture and software design will be taught. Frankly, I'm not happy with the information that they offer us. Perhaps this is the problem of my course, but the question is posed globally. Does it take a whole semester, or maybe more, to understand this area for an ordinary student? Is it possible to omit formalities and strict standardization in practice? How often do you have to deal with documents like software analysis? How often do you create flowcharts, diagrams, attribute tables in practice?
I would have preferred to get 2-3 lectures of general information, but I am not a programmer and cannot confirm the correctness of my views. But still ... just reading about the component approach and the modular one - I did not find significant differences between them and came to the conclusion that this is just pouring water.

I do this all the time from project to project, and without this it is impossible to create a project with a competent and scalable architecture. I advise you to listen carefully to everything they say.

This is an important topic and necessary in the development of more than a business card site.
If you think that you do not need this "1 subject per semester", how many are there? out of 6? Then sit down right now and dig in time for 3 lectures on this topic. You will feel that you know everything and have learned everything well - do not go. Otherwise, go.

The course is dry and outdated
