Do I have the right approach to learning?
I recently decided to learn JavaScript / Node.js, before that I taught Java / Android for almost half a year, in general, not quite a beginner. But when I decide to learn something new, I sit for 5-10 days, just reading tutorials and various resources and writing small examples from there. So, what do you think, is it worth it to sit down and read at least one tutorial first. For example, here I am reading https://developer.mozilla.org. It's just that it's easier for me to first fully get to know the language than to write something without understanding it right away. Or is it a waste of time?

There are so many branches to JS, first ask yourself a rational question, what do you need the language for. In what area / area do you want to develop, and find the JS road map. Which will show you an approximate course and variations of your training.
Understand the difference between knowledge and information and then you can learn quickly
