Display parent element and dropdown menu on hover?

I'm learning a little bit of CSS. I can’t figure out how to make the parent element continue to be displayed as hovered when hovering over a sub-menu? and also, when hovering over the parent, the sub-menu remained active, which had an indent on top. You have an empty space between the button itself and the drop-down block, and when you move the cursor from the button to the submenu, the cursor falls on the empty space and hover stops working.
