Difference between nslookup Windows and Linux?

There is a local DNS server on Windows 2003 Server with recursion disabled.
When entering a request in the Windows 7 console via nslookup to a site unknown to the server, we see the message

*** ns1.organisation.local не удалось найти example.com: Server failed

And that's it, we don't see anything else.
When we enter the same request in the Ubuntu Server console, we get the answer:
;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 192.168.1.100, trying next server

And the request is sent to the next server accordingly.
Q: Why does nslookup on Windows work the way it does? Or do I have something misconfigured?
