Did the programming exercises from the Zlatopolsky collection help you?

I am working on pumping my working skills, and I would like to learn the basics of programming and algorithmic thinking. Since the skill requires problem solving, I would like to know if Zlatopolsky's collection of problems helped you. If not, what resources would you recommend for very beginners? Tips "Create a snake or Sea Battle" will not help - not my level.

I also bought a collection of Zlatopolsky for myself in order to give tasks to students. But this collection is not very good. It feels like the author strained his students so that they gave birth to problems for him. As a result, most tasks are rather boring and monotonous. The wording of tasks is sometimes ambiguous and the performance criteria are vague. There are a couple of good tasks, but it's not worth it.
Not suitable for self-study.
In my opinion, the Internet is full of resources with puzzles and automatic verification. I will not promote any particular one. Look for yourself, try the free period on different ones.

@AllCatsAreBeautiful

I liked the java puzzles at https://codingbat.com/, there is a bit of python there as well.
For beginners it should be fine. And I didn’t go further, I went a little bit into php and underwriting -_-
