Did I upload the files correctly?

Decided to throw the site on the host. I looked at tutorials. But I noticed that I don't have a httpdocs folder. Threw all files and assets into public_html with the replacement of duplicate files. But now 30 minutes have passed, and an error pops up at the site address stating that the site was not found. Help solve the problem....
