I took half a year ago lenovo s205, 11", ddr3 up to 8 gig (two bars), amd e450 processor, two cores 1.56 gigahertz. I work on a 22" monitor via hdmi. Of course, I want 4 gigahertz and 8 cores, but I'm too lazy to carry more than one and a half kilograms. Linux is hard to install - UFEI. But image ubuntu 11.10 amd64 became an alternative without any problems. Works from batteries up to three hours in performance mode under Linux. I don’t know under Windows, there should be more, like up to 6.
It’s better to really pay a little extra, but take it with a larger screen and a better processor.
For myself, I'm leaning towards the ASUS Eee PC 1215B.
Lenovo edge 13 on an amd process costs about 12 tr in the Euroset.
13", 2 slots for DDR3 memory, I set myself 8 gigs, the memory is cheap right now.
The battery lasts about 6 hours. The video card from amd is enough for many games.
In general, although it is called a netbook, it is like a normal laptop. And it weighs few.
A netbook under such conditions will be stupid =) I worked with a netbook for more than half a year, I replaced it with a normal laptop, there was not enough power, although since then they have grown a little, but I have not used java + eclipce, and as far as I know, they are a little voracious . It’s better to save up and buy a normal 13" laptop on a core i3 so that you don’t change the purchased netbook later, it will only come out more expensive.
If I were you, I would look towards the EeePC, I myself have been using the 1005HA for a year and a half, the battery still holds 6+ hours, initially it was 8. Now, for example, this model is not even bad.

I would advise looking at solutions with an AMD processor, tk. they do not have this crazy limitation (1024x600) on the screen resolution.
I took a Lenovo S100 for 10,500. Dual core 1.66, 2GB DDR3.
java + eclipse did not try, but Compass 3D + Delphi7 = normal flight.
I don’t know why, but my Asus EEEE 1015PE (I think I’m writing the model correctly) really lasts more than 6 hours.
Works only as a typewriter in the library. Works with a bang.
I can say that in such beeches the most important thing is a good railway.
